Manufacturing Process

Petro Carbon and Chemicals Limited (PCCL) follows a meticulous and technologically advanced manufacturing process to produce high-quality Calcined Petroleum Coke (CPC) at its state-of-the-art facility in West Bengal, India. The manufacturing process involves several stages, each designed to ensure the production of premium-grade CPC that meets stringent quality standards.

Raw Material Procurement

The manufacturing process begins with the procurement of high-quality raw petroleum coke (RPC), which serves as the primary input for CPC production. PCCL sources RPC from reliable suppliers both in India and abroad, ensuring consistency in quality and chemical composition. The raw material undergoes thorough inspection and testing to verify its suitability for the manufacturing process.

Crushing and Grinding

Upon receipt, the raw petroleum coke is subjected to crushing and grinding processes to reduce its particle size and enhance its surface area. This preparation step is crucial for optimizing the efficiency of subsequent calcination and improving the physical properties of the final product. State-of-the-art crushing and grinding equipment is employed to achieve the desired particle size distribution.

Calcination

The key stage of the manufacturing process is calcination, wherein the crushed and ground raw petroleum coke undergoes thermal treatment in a rotary kiln at elevated temperatures. During Calcination process moisture and Volatiles are driven off which is present in RPC for making CPC. The calcination process is carefully controlled to achieve the desired level of carbonization and purity while minimizing energy consumption and environmental impact.

Cooling and Sizing

Following calcination, the hot calcined petroleum coke is cooled to ambient temperature to stabilize its physical properties. Cooling may be achieved through air or water quenching, depending on the specific requirements of the product. Once cooled, the CPC is subjected to sizing and screening operations to obtain the desired particle size distribution and remove any oversized or undersized particles.

Quality Control and Testing

Throughout the manufacturing process, rigorous quality control measures are implemented to ensure the consistency and integrity of the final product. Samples are collected at various stages of production and subjected to comprehensive testing in state-of-the-art laboratories equipped with advanced analytical instruments. Quality parameters such as chemical composition, particle size distribution, bulk density, and specific surface area are carefully monitored to meet customer specifications and regulatory requirements.

Packaging and Storage

Upon successful completion of quality testing, the finished calcined petroleum coke is packaged in accordance with customer requirements and industry standards. PCCL offers a range of packaging options, including bulk bags, jumbo bags, and smaller consumer packs, to accommodate diverse application needs. The packaged CPC is stored in designated warehouses equipped with proper ventilation and safety measures to ensure product integrity during storage and transportation.
